Cavaillon is located in the Luberon Regional Natural Park, on the Saint Jacques Hill. It is a town of agricultural, economic and tourist activities.Each place is a reminder of the past. Cavaillon was a roman town called Caballio; it can be proud of its Triumph Arch, which remains have been transferred to the bottom of the Cesar de Bus road.
From the end of the 16th century, the Jews protected by the Pope made Cavaillon their home. During the 18th century, the craftsmen who renovated the roman church and its cloister also worked on the ornamentation of the synagogue. Both the church and the synagogue shelter artistic and spiritual treasures.
Cavaillon is the capital of the cantaloupe melon and is renowned for the quality of its produce.
